Going out on a limb...

It looks like we may actually do this. Details will be coming soon; currently researching the isbn & clmp & other business matters.

In other news, I am seriously blushing and cheering and stealing peeks at the new Poets & Writers because my name is in there for the very first time. Nothing big or new (IL Arts Council Award from 2005), but I had no idea it was going to be listed, so imagine my surprise last night when half-watching an episode of Crossing Jordan (don't make fun of me! I like that show!) and flipping through P&W and bam, there I am, ma'am. I really hope it's not the last time my name appears in those pages.

I wrote a new poem on Sunday, and I'm getting a rare spring submission ready (I've never had much luck sending stuff out off-season, but there are so many places that accept ms year round, and I actually have poems to send, and oh yeah, there's that whole tenure application thing too), and reading submissions for RHINO, and writing an AWP proposal, and bracing myself for the inevitable end-of-term deluge.

What a difference the sun makes, though! Just being able to open windows and go outside without a jacket...amazing.

I would so volunteer to be one of your nameless lackies. Is there a form or a contract made up so I can sign away my life and/or identity?

Not a big deal? Are you kidding me? I have been applying for a Nevada Arts Council Grant ever since I moved to this state, and I have not even been so much as mentioned. Remember, this is Nevada we are talking about. With maybe a 100 serious poets in the state, (and 50-60 who apply for the NAC each year) it doesn't look too bright for me if I can't even get an honorable mention.

I say these things to avoid the real truth: The truth that tells me I need to work on my writing.

Be sure to let me know where to sign up!

Justin, I'm still waiting to someday get an arts council grant *sigh*, but the literary award was awfully nice (it was just for one poem).

I will let you know if we get enough action for nameless lackies. :) I hope we do!

Congrats on the P&W appearance - and keep us posted on the new journal project! I'm thinking about starting one myself - didn't know you needed an ISBN though?

Jeannine, I don't think you *need* one...I am just a goofball who loves ISBN numbers. Don't even get me started on the Dewey Decimal System, too. It's sick, especially for a number-hater like myself.

Too much time around books (is there really such a thing?)

Mary, just wanted to send you some encouraging wishes on the journal thing... Let me know if you need anything! And of course I'll pass the info on to everyone I know...

So exciting!
