The Snow Ma'am

The news that Eduardo is not going to AWP has prompted me to do a roll call. Will you be going to Atlanta? Please say yes. For those who have been there before, how warm will it be (i.e. flip flops or no flip flops)?

We now have a couple of inches of white stuff on the ground. I still haven't finished typing up all of my syllabi. There's something about spring semester and setbacks.

Today's the beginning of my new MFA poetry workshop, which is always exciting. Our program is consortial, so I get students from four different universities. That rocks. So many new folks, including Jessica Jewell, aka Penzilla, who has a stunning thesis manuscript about people living through the Dust Bowl. I wish I were that ambitious.

Please send wee Ray some healthy ear vibes. He has a wicked infection that is making him (and all the rest of us) really sad.

I have some poems up at Seven Corners. It's nice to be in such good (Chicagoland) company.

You already know my answer. You can make that my same answer for the next 10 years, at least.

Okay, now I am weeping again.

AWP Las Vegas, anyone?

I've got to find some money to make it happen, but my guess right now is "Yes," I will be in Atlanta. Anyway, I built a cancellation into my class syllabus for Wednesday of AWP week and my students will be upset if I change that now.

Hope to see you there!

Gaylord Brewer at Poems & Plays is trying to rally support for AWP Tijuana. I could get on board with that, though maybe Vegas would be a good stepping stone. What happens at AWP…

I'll mostly be at my table, wistfully looking off into the distance.

John, I hope your table is close enough for me to pelt you with paper clips (from the RHINO table).

That looks like a good one. I must ask my Evanston cohort what number we have. Last year we were buried out by the loading dock, and so lonely!

I'll be there. And I second AWP in Las Vegas. Only problem--you get a bunch of writers in Sin City and no one will attend a single panel or reading. Myself included. :D
