Keep out.

Well, it's officially crunch time around here. Next week's spring break (for people who don't have a knee-high stack of theses to read), and then it's all uphill until the end of the semester. Lots of cool readings at my U to look forward to (Cate Marvin & Jay Hopler, my reading with Michael Dumanis and Zachary Schomburg, and a visit from A. Van Jordan), but all within weeks. Oh my!

I'm debating about getting a blackberry. Soon I'll have two offices (my usual digs, then an office at the UA Press), and I'd really rather not schlep my laptop back and forth all of the time. BUT on the other hand, I might get consumed by my email if I get one. BUT my inbox wouldn't fill up so easily. Please advise, those in the know.

Off to an important meeting this afternoon. Dork that I am, I'm bringing a dry erase board to write things on. I know I could do it in power point, but then I wouldn't get that great marker smell, which is priceless.

I'm not in the know about blackberries. But I'm in the know when it comes to you, and imagining a Mary Biddinger months from now without a blackberry just doesn't seem right. Such devices were made for gals like you. Besides, you're already pretty involved in emails, etc., so I don't think that would make a difference.

But what if it doesn't get good reception in the Thackaberry Room? Or, alternately, what if I'm dismissed by the likes of Sir Robert Worthington Esq. as being too trendy?

*sigh*

PS--Are you getting cold, standing in the woods like that?

Not getting cold. I have your ill-fitting black sweater to keep me warm, and a few windex wipes just in case, you know, some things need get cleaned out here.

PS--There's always great reception in the Thackaberry Room. It's got something to do with that copy of Cocoon 2 on the shelves.

I think we should invent a national holiday to give us at least one long weekend between spring break and summer.

You don't want a blackberry because someone might say, "Oh look a blackberry." and then eat it because they think blackberries taste really good. And then you're left with no blackberry to get your email. And you're not able to email people back before they have even hit the send button.

The great marker smell is priceless. JCC just invested in dry markers that smell like their colors -- red smells like strawberries, blue smells like blueberries, and so on and so forth! That is a different type of priceless.

Blackberries are a pain, actually - they increase the amount of time you spend on e-mail. A waste of money and life.
