When I moved away from the Detroit area I thought I'd never see another pączki again. Apparently they're all over, however, even here in Northeast Ohio. Mardi Gras just wouldn't be the same without them.
Lent and AWP seem to go hand in hand, and I really hope that there are more meat-free options for folks stuck in the exhibit hall all day on Friday. A gal can only survive on diet coke and pretzels for so long.
Au sujet de AWP, I am using this President's Day (observed) to write my paper. It's going to be kind of "nonfictiony" and that's not a genre I often work with, outside this blog.
Perhaps I'll begin with an anecdote about pączki day. Nah.
How are you celebrating (or not)?

PS--This nonfiction thing is much easier than I thought it would be! Actually kind of enjoyable.
I share your concern, though I only have to survive for 3 hours on pretzels and diet coke!
The pretzel and diet coke fast...an annual tradition.
