CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Well folks, I am finally putting my (grant) money where my mouth is, and would like to introduce you to Barn Owl Review, my new literary venture.

We will be open for submissions beginning Friday (6/1), and we are looking for poetry and fiction of the highest quality. Barn Owl Review will be a handsomely designed print annual of writing that takes risks while still connecting with readers. The journal will be produced by four Akron area editors, including myself, but is open to submissions from both near and far. Please check out our Submission Guidelines for more details, and our listing on Duotrope.

We will also be publishing a number of book reviews: many on our website, and a featured review or two in the print journal. Although we do not take unsolicited reviews, we will accept review copies of books. With regard to poetry, we are especially interested in reviewing first books and small press titles, and when it comes to fiction, the less commercial the better

Please help us spread the word, and send us some work, too! We'll be considering unsolicited manuscripts until November 1st, and the inaugural issue will be released at the AWP bookfair in NYC this January. I will be continuing my work as Associate Editor of RHINO (nothing wrong with being bi-journal, right?), but I really look forward to beginning this new project with the help of my fellow editors.
