Fever 103.7°

Ray's temp went up to 103.7° yesterday and suddenly the world came to a crashing halt. Emails unanswered, office littered with papers, plants unwatered, counters stacked with crap, appointments cancelled, and no end in sight, as he spiked back into the 103s this evening.

Luckily the doctor we saw today gave him some meds--sulfa something--so I really hope he's on the mend. But good lord, between this and the stomach flu (for the rest of us) last week, getting the new dog, the end of the summer session grading, and other assorted b.s., it has been pouring, not raining, in Akron, Ohio.

It's really hard taking a puppy out for walks with a not-yet-walking 22 pounder who doesn't like to be put down when he's feeling sick. Luckily he did sleep through the night last night, which was a blessing. I hope I'm similarly lucky tonight. Ray only naps when held, and every time it seems I have him drifting off Rubi starts to whine and pace.

I wonder what would happen if I started whining and pacing.

If you could keep us in your thoughts that would be really, really great.

The same thing happened to my little sister when she was 18 months old. It was scary, but everything turned out fine. Thinking of you, M.

Thanks you guys!

The abx seem to be working, so now it's mostly an issue of recuperating. I think we might go check out the new Akron Art Museum today so that Ray can spend some time in the stroller--otherwise he's tearing things apart all day.

Hey Mary! Thanks for the good wishes. I hope Ray feels better soon and you get some sleep. We'll have to do lunch when I come back! I'm sure there will be good stories to tell.
