
It rained all day yesterday, so it's too wet for the guys to come build our new front steps. Guess I'll have to work from home tomorrow, too. The air is so humid you could cut it with scissors. The stores are packed with back-to-dorm stuff and it's (almost) making me wish I still taught freshmen. Almost.

Mary, that's a kind of amaryllis (I forget the Latin) commonly called "magic lilies" because they usually appear suddenly, without leaves on strong stems. I wrote a poem about 'em. Your garden is magical.
