Hullo there.

We've been here for three summers now, and this thing has never bloomed (or even come up) before (and we didn't plant it). I like to blame these sorts of things on global warming, but I will take all of the August bloomin' that I can get.

It rained all day yesterday, so it's too wet for the guys to come build our new front steps. Guess I'll have to work from home tomorrow, too. The air is so humid you could cut it with scissors. The stores are packed with back-to-dorm stuff and it's (almost) making me wish I still taught freshmen. Almost.

That is such a lovely color on that bloom.

Isn't it? It's actually a few lovely colors being lovely together.

*sigh*

Mary, that's a kind of amaryllis (I forget the Latin) commonly called "magic lilies" because they usually appear suddenly, without leaves on strong stems. I wrote a poem about 'em. Your garden is magical.

Amy, I feel so ultra special right now. They *are* magical! I'm glad I wasn't just being nutty.

I can't believe it's been three years. Beautiful flowers, Mary!
