Look what I whipped up for the kindergarten Easter party today, in my copious spare time! Ha ha! I am not a baker--no talent there whatsoever. All credit goes here. Cornshake really needs to visit Akron some time and check this place out. The cupcakes weren't nearly as messy as I thought they would be, in the hands of fourteen 5 and 6 year olds with spring break on the mind.
It's officially spring now, and the sun is shining, even though yesterday we had freezing rain and a couple of new inches of snow. Things are looking up. I've gotten some work done. Still in the throes of a major thesis ms onslaught, but it's under control.
I may not be a baker, but if I had to be thankful for one talent that I do indeed have, it would be fast reading. I can read 50+ pages an hour, and that really comes in handy. If I had to be thankful for a second talent, it would be fast typing. It's the only thing I learned in high school that I still use on a daily basis. Except French, of course, and all that trig. And all that stuff in health class. And the astronomy.
What one talent are you thankful for right now?

Knowing when to keep my damned mouth shut and not making matters worse.
I'm thankful for my ability to criticize things that I read. I like to think I have a good critical voice, one that I'm confident in. Of course, I'm also thankful that I'm pretty skilled in the looks department...
oooh! those cupcakes look divine! i love the purply ones--looks like lotus.
Jay, honestly, I'd put the looks first and the critical analysis second. ;) Though I'm most envious of the whole "numbers" thing.
CS-you're right! That's what they are (not some kind of uber-hyacinth).
They were deeeelish, too.
my talent to relax.
I may need to check out that place for wedding cakes... looks like they may be able to come up with something interesting. Talents? I guess drawing since that's currently what I'm not doing much of and I never feel like I'm any good at whatever I happen to be working on at the time... So I'm grateful to have other talents to keep me from feeling totally useless.
these are gor-ge-ous cupcakes! my friends had a birthday party for me last weekend with homemade red velvet and lemon poppyseed cupcakes, microbrews and a make your own pizza bar.
my talent? distracting people from their problems with wisecracks.
i miss ya, mary.
