I usually pride myself on being extremely resilient, and able to trudge through drama while helping others trudge through their own. But damn it, I'm really sad because we had to put one of my favorite cats, Charlie (aka Chungquaine), to sleep yesterday. Her real name was Charlotte Perkins, but we never called her that. She slept with me every night, and stood on the edge of the shower peeping at me every morning. Charlie was having a lot of problems, and when I said goodbye to her yesterday morning she didn't even seem to recognize me. It's just hard to believe that such a sweet, loyal creature is no longer a part of this world.

I'm so sorry about your kitty, Mary! Thinking of you, today.
Mary, I am far too familiar with this scenario... and it's never easy. Sorry about Charlotte...
Oh dang, that had to be so hard. Very sad reading this, sorry about your cat. I had to do this once also and still vividly remeber each moment of that day 20 plus years later.

Thanks, you guys. We are going to do a big, cheesy memorial service for her tonight, and I think that will help.
So sorry Mary. Thinking good thoughts for you.
Really sorry to hear about your cat. When I lost my dog a few years back I thought I lost a family member.
Mary~
That is never easy. I had to put my 18 year-old kitty to sleep this time last year.
I still miss him. You are in my thoughts.
Sorry for your loss, Mary. May Charlie enjoy much catnip and love in Kitty Heaven.
Yeah, we went through that three years ago. Natalie was very confused. He used to sleep on her bed every night.
so sorry to hear about Charlie. The drawings your kids made just about broke my heart. :(
I strongly encourage all of you to pour one out for one of the good ones. Charlie and I had our scraps over the years, but she was a solid, solid individual.
Now I'm crying for you! I never understand how they are here one minute and then not. I'm so sorry, Mary.
Aww, I'm so sorry. The lousy thing about loving critters is that they just don't live long enough, ever. It's still worth it, but it's so hard when you have to say goodbye.
Thinking of you. You know I know about pets. They're family. I hope the cheesy memorial went well:(
I'm so sorry, Mary.
Oh Bee, I'm sorry to hear about Ms. Perkins.
I got this from my sister when Buddy passed:
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
to decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God
That you will never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created and destroyed?
It just is...forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will undertstand
replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am...forever and ever and ever.

So sorry to hear about this.
The amazing animal creatures who live with us can be such good friends. I grew up with a dog, and it's been many many years by now, but I still miss her when I think about her.
Unfortunately, I know exactly what you mean. So sorry to hear about Charlie. At least Jack has someone to keep him company now!
So sorry for your loss, Mary. I like the drawings by your children.
