Time to bake the poems.

Lately I have been:

a) Getting up really early (like 4:30 am) so that I can get work done.

b) Making coffee at home...and drinking it.

Somehow this causes extreme flashbacks to jobs of yesteryear, like "Wake up, Mary, it's time to go open the coffeehouse and bake all of the chocolate and raspberry filled croissants!" or "Better go catch the el to that mind-numbing office job in the Loop!"

But no. I'm getting up early so that I can read Neruda--good lord, why don't I read Neruda every day?--and write lesson plans about poetry, and then read more poetry.

And that is why I am not complaining.

Are you a morning person?

Yes, I am morning person. It's the only time I get *all* to myself. I would disappear without those hours--the hours just before the street lamps shut off. And I *heart* Neruda.

I'm a morning person if I get to spend time in the barn with my horses. I'd rather be sleeping than doing most anything else. And even in the barn, 4:30...that's EARLY!

Yes! I love getting all my stuff done first thing during the day so I can rest and relax for the rest of it.

4:30? Cripes! Thats a good hour before the first time I turn my alarm off.

That's because you're too busy dreaming about VH1.

I love mornings, especially if I can make it up early enough to meet the dawn.

I usually walk the dog for about a mile, come home & make coffee, read the paper, and just enjoy the quiet.

Seeing as how I'm going to be a dad in a scant 8 months, I suppose that I'd better start enjoying the quiet.

I'm a morning person. That's the perfect time to go to bed. 4 a.m. is an ideal bed time. Sleep til noon, have a cuppa and play all night.

Yes. Mornings. 5:00, though. 4:30 sounds a bit rough.

(With everyone sleeping, who's to say I'm not the happy genius of the household? WCW said that. Or something like that.)

No, I'm not a morning person. I like night. I do all my best thinking, writing, reading, grading... well, pretty much my best anything, at night.

Morning, night . . . Who cares? The most important part of your post is that you are reading Neruda!

Wen I read this line by Neruda, I stopped dead in my tracks:

"Solo puedo quererte con besos y amapolas."

"I can only love you with kisses and poppies."

Yes an no. I enjoy the early morning, but most of the time, I would rather be sleeping.
