Pass the pepper, please

The new issue of Salt Hill is hot off the press, and it looks great! I have two poems in there, and I'm especially tickled to be right next to the amazing Aimee Nez. I'm so glad I waited until the absolute last minute to get my merit portfolio together, because now I'll have another litmag to include, not to mention some seriously fly new polka dot binders to keep everything tidy.

Au sujet de litmagisme, expect a very exciting news flash next week, in that realm. And I mean really exciting. You're not going to want to miss this. Stay tuned.

And here's this, from Brandi Homan. I couldn't resist.
You Are a Lemon Cake
Strong, sexy, and overpowering. You know who you are, and you're not afraid to show the world your fabulous self. You're confident, charming, and extremely popular.

How does one put together a merit portfolio? And does a copy of the journal actually go into it or just a citation? Here at Casa Schroeder, I have what I like to call the Ego Shelf holding my contributor copies. And a skimpy CV for all the citations. :)

Do they have a pie test? I like pie better than cake. I hope I'm rhubarb. Unless I'm a cheese cake. But a Rhubarb Cheese cake would be best...for everyone.

Steven, the merit folder (not to be confused with the review, tenure, and promotion folders) showcases my annual accomplishments in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship. I've added another category: cuteness of binder and accessories. I will be scoring a 5 in the latter category for sure.

Adam, we may have to arm wrestle some time re: cake versus pie. I don't like pie. My grandmother once said that I'm not a real Biddinger because of this. I do, however, love a good rhubarb crisp. I just don't like pie crust.

P.S. Steven, we have the Ego Shelf here at Casa Biddinger too. The other stuff is for work. I like to include physical copies of the litmags to showcase their beauty and spread the word. Imagine The Eleventh Muse being manhandled by all of my colleagues as they rate my accomplishments...
