What's on your desk today?

It's my turn in Kate's first book interview queue. Thanks for checking out my (dorky) answers.

I'm hip-deep in a new poem: "Saint Monica Composes an Essay on Girard's Theory of Triangular Desire." It's a prose poem and it keeps going on and on. I'm aiming for five stanzas, like a five paragraph paper, since I'm too verbose to keep it to three.

This project almost interfered with my viewing of the penultimate episode of the Sopranos last night. Dios mio! I'm not a tv person, but I dig that show.

Here's what I want to do today.

What's on your desk, plate, etc?

Amazing answers, Mary!

Whenever I read you talk about your book, I get something new about the prspective that makes it so completely unique and compelling.

I am hoping I will have something to submit to Barn Owl Review by the deadline, but it doesn't look good right now---nothing is developing right now.

I will be out of town for a week, but I will check in as soon as Iget back to see if there is anything I can do to help. Helping out seems more likely than actually having anything ready by then.

Great interview!

On my plate: revisions, At the Drive-In Volcano, Swimming the Witch, and Glamour magazine. And a stupid phone attached to a bunch of cranky construction workers.

Only 25 more days in June!

Thanks Justin! I'm confident you'll have some new poems by November 1st, though. ;)

Sara, at least this summer gig won't be too tempting when you have to leave it. I share your intense hatred of the phone, however. Once I had to operate a switchboard for two floors of a large building in the Chicago loop. And I HATE the phone and always flub up what I'm supposed to say. *sigh*

Loved the Kicking Wind interview, very nice.

On my desk today:

Roethke's Collected Poems
Saul Bellow's Humboldt's Gift
Larissa Szporluk's Embryos & Idiots
Creeley's Selected Poems
Maurice Manning's Bucolics

Worked for hours today on my new project... it felt great!

Hope your day went well, Mary!!
