The scariest man on earth

Here's another holiday classic for the scrapbook. Oh wait. I don't even have a photo album. But here's a holiday classic nonetheless. Gabi, my five year old, wouldn't even go near him. As soon as we got to the front of the line, Raymond started screaming. At one point Ray was just sitting there, wailing, and pointing at my dad (who was taking the pictures) with this How dare you? kind of look on his face.

I was never afraid of Santa. I was usually just consumed with guilt over all the terrible things I'd done, trying to calculate my misbehavior into toy deductions. In most of my pictures with Santa I'm freshly post-tears.

At this same Christmas party, Gabi decorated a coffee cup for me. It wasn't Christmasy, but she wrote Ho Ho on it. Hmm. Apparently one of the other kids wrote Hoo on his cup. At least I don't have to walk around the office with that one.

I thought the man in red was joking when he said, "Maybe Mom should sit on Santa's lap." I should've asked him for something. An NEA grant? A poem-annotating robot? The latter would be a huge help tomorrow.

This was hilarious to read. I have a photo like this of my daughter screaming. I call it "evidence for they therapist later on..."

This cracked me up though--

Apparently one of the other kids wrote Hoo on his cup. At least I don't have to walk around the office with that one.

ho ho!

He doesn't look like he's crying. It's more like he's yelling at Santa. "Hey, KNOCK IT OFF" or "YOU WANT A PIECE OF ME?!" I maintain that Ray is too cool to wail.

Kelli, I think this is "evidence" too... ;)

Adam, you are totally right. Ray isn't wailing. He's ready to riot!

I was never afraid of Santa because my dad looks just like him...but my nieces and nephews? They're afraid of Grandpa AND Santa. So sad.

God, I can't believe it's December!

Great picture. Now, is that your real smile?

Poor Ray.

I was never afraid of Santa; I just wanted my presents.
