Cloudroll, please!

The ominous scene below conveyed the following information to me this morning:

1. Yes, Obama did not win in New Hampshire.

2. Yes, it's going to be cold again. The warm weather from the past two days was a tease.

3. Yes, you only have two more days in the office this week, so you better work on syllabi.

Such harsh, cruel realities, delivered with a side of half puffy-half stormy clouds.

Did you know that AWP is just weeks away? I have about 80 things I want to do on Friday and Saturday night, but what's up with Thursday? Will I have to order pay per view and set my hair in rollers or what?

Don't forget to put this on your dance card for Saturday :

Please join the Barn Owl Review editors, and faculty, students, and fans of the Northeast Ohio Masters in Fine Arts program, at 7:00 pm on Saturday, 2/2, for the NEOMFA reception. (The Sutton Center, Hilton New York, 2nd Floor S209.) Come enjoy a glass of wine and the hospitality of the only Consortial MFA program in creative writing in the nation. Apparently, cheese will be available too.

I show up for the barn owl.
I'll stay for the cheese.

But will you take pictures of the cheese, too?

And if you do, will you ask it to say "wine!"?

2 percent... Besides, I doubt McCain has a prayer in the overall, which means if Obama can swing the Dem side, he can probably pick up all those poll shifting independents...

HI Meagan! I just figured out that you're you. :)

There's a wicked offsite reading at McNally Robinson (52 Prince street) on Thursday night at 7 PM, courtesy of Persea Books and featuring:

Gabrielle Calvocoressi, author of The Last Time I Saw Amelia Earhart;
Alena Hairston, author of The Logan Topographies;
Kate Northrop, author of Things Are Disappearing Here;
Patrick Rosal, author of My American Kundiman;
Anne Shaw, author of Undertow;
Sidney Wade, author of Stroke: Poems;
Rachel Wetzsteon, author of Sakura Park;
Introduction by Gabriel Fried.

I think that's the one to go to. Shhhh, don't tell anyone.

Thanks, Sandra! Maybe I won't have to give myself a mud masque and do crossword puzzles after all...

I'll bring my camera for the cheese, and it'll stay for the wine.
