Barn Owl Review + MUSE = Extravaganza

How often do you go to an event and have it totally exceed your expectations, by like a million percent? That's what happened last night. We had a massive turnout, awesome readers, and we sold out of BORs before the reading even started. Wow!

Jay R. and I were the only original masthead members in attendance, but we had a strong showing from the Next Generation of Owls: Frank DePoole, John Skarl, Jason Venner, and Emily Dressler, who we've recently invited to join the staff.

We're nearing the end of our run for BOR#1, so we are going to begin selling subscriptions for BOR#2 soon, and, of course, taking submissions beginning June 1st. That's right around the corner, isn't it?

Spent much of Mother's Day at commencement, which was really cool. I'm not being sarcastic, either. The only bad thing was that they somehow got me a DA instead of Ph.D. cape/hood thinger. It was even uglier than my real regalia. I got a little teary the first time I saw Dawson in his cap and gown, but managed not to sob or vomit as Eric M. crossed the stage. I was really proud of myself for that.

Here are some pics from last night:

A lot of people showed up. Thanks so much, lots of people!

Michael actually looks like the calm one in this pic, compared to me.

Nin got things started, and read poems.
Nin asked me to read some poems, so I read three new ones.

Emily Dressler reading a story.

Shurice Gross brought the house down with her story from BOR.

Amy Sparks just rocks!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to celebrate!

If you liked that event, you should have seen the one Worthington attended, a car ride / dance party / performance of Lear! How untowards!

Wow. That guy who takes pictures is really good. Awesome event, I think we need one in the Akron area.
