What we talk about when we talk about...

Who ever would've thought that Denise Levertov's "The Ache of Marriage" would generate more discussion in my Modern American Poetry class than 90% of the other readings?

We had a stellar turnout at the open mic last night--probably 60+ plus people in the audience at the busiest times, including over 20 of my students. I always like going first so that I can remind everyone to exit courteously when sneaking off to the loo (well, and getting reading over with is rather nice too). I read a villanelle, of all things.

This raspberry (flavored...not the labor-inducing kind!) tea is making me jittery! Or maybe it's just the knowledge that I have a huge stack of papers to grade today. But I get to do it at home, in sweatpants! This morning I did not wake up at six, nor did I leave the house at 7:20. I made eggs for breakfast (I've had a mad hankerin' for them lately). What a nutty way to celebrate St. Patrick's. My mom tried to explain that you can indeed eat meat on Friday during Lent if it's St. Paddy's, but I'm making salmon and pasta anyway.

Er, Mary...raspberry tea is supposed to bring on labor. At least that's what they claim on the baby boards.

Great news about the kick ass turnout at the reading.

Suzanne, it's not the raspberry leaf tea, but the raspberry flavored kind...but thanks for looking out for me! :) I definitely don't want the wee lad to arrive this early.

Okay, fixed it so it doesn't cause alarm. Now off to eat eggplant parmigiana...(just kidding)!

There's a special dispensation for corned beef, I believe. I don't know if it's meant to extend to all meat, though.

Big ups on the reading!

I'm not catholic, but I read that your Bishop has to approve the dispensation, and that not all Bishops have. You would need to check with your diocese (sp?).
