Peeeeeekaboo!

I hope you now have Siouxie and the Banshees in the head for the next several hours in honor of the swell Steel Toe Books ad in the new issue of Poets & Writers. Page 100, baby! Thanks to Greg for designing the ad. He's also managing editor, fiction editor, and designer for Barn Owl Review, when he isn't busy beatboxing or critiquing the last episode of the Sopranos.

Thanks to Deborah I am now obsessed with GoodReads. I think I need some more books (and friends) though. It's really addictive, and a welcome break from googling labradoodles.

I might actually be able to catch up on a few things today, like writing thank you notes. I'm always in a panic until I get them out, as if all of the gift-senders are checking each day off on a calendar. Today is movie day in my relentless summer class, so that's a plus too. Perhaps I will listen to Siouxie while finishing things up.

PS--Say hello to poet Mona Lisi, who is now on Blogger.

Hi, Mary, I didn't know the ad was coming out so soon. Thanks for the tip.

About good reads. Let me recommend Philip Roth's Everyman. I think it's pretty close to perfect. Short, intense, packed with all kinds of emotions and truths.

Hi Mary, thanks for the shout-out. And it's funny that you should say that about siouxsie because I was just listening to her while painting at my sister's house!
