This weekend Alison Pelegrin was here for the New Words reading at the Akron Art Museum. All along I'd been reading her poems with a voice I'd invented for her, based on Big Muddy River of Stars. Amazingly, her voice is really similar to the one in her poems. What a treat hanging out with her. She's so funny and low-key and confident when she's reading. Here are a few pics.

Alison and Pippi Longstocking, with the awesome lights of downtown Akron swirling around us.
Today is our student awards ceremony, where I get to give prizes to The Colt, among others. I get to read his "Chainsaw Poem" as part of the festivities. I hope I do it justice. I love student awards day. It's one of my favorite days of the academic year. I forgot to wear waterproof mascara, so I may have to make my remarks more humorous than heart-wrenching.

I don't know why I thought she'd be otherwise, but I was surprised by how chatty and fun Alison was at dinner.
Nice pics, btw. Do I get a photographer's credit??

Great Poems -- I also like Brent's work, as well as the poem by Julia Kasdorf.
I saw via somewhere else that your poems were up---I think through Facebook.
I really think you've got something with those St. Monica poems. Way to go!
